Wait a second. Priests aren’t supposed to be fathers. So why raise this question on Father’s day? Furthermore, Lutherans don’t do the priest thing! But, … maybe we do! Father, mother, child, son, daughter, grandmother, grandfather, there is a place for you in today’s priesthood. Have you seen God at work? Could you talk about that? Are you learning to obey? Do you identify as the beloved of your Father? Would you “stand in the gap” for others? And the big one, … Are you holy? Maybe you could be a priest!

Grace to Set Us Free

Saints/Sinners

Jesus stirs the societal pot as he reaches beyond normal values and selects an outsider…a “sinner” as a disciple. Jesus chose us as his “disciple.” How do we live, as “Saint” or “Sinner?” What do we expect in others: “Saints” or “Sinners?”

God’s Grace is Enough

Trinity Sunday 2023

Trinity Sunday is one of those odd times in the church year when we attempt to have some clarity in our understanding of the “mystery of God.” We have tried to reflect on what God shows us about Himself in the Word, but it remains a beautiful unexplainable reality when we come down to it. We celebrate Trinity Sunday not because we have all the answers, but because of the variety of ways in which our God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) expresses extraordinary love to us.
