Welcome to Our Savior Lutheran Preschool! We are a Faith-based Preschool serving children two to five years. Our Preschool began over 50 years ago, and we have established a community-wide reputation of excellence.

We believe play is an essential part of learning and that children learn best when they are happy and engaged. We Engage students in an education that incorporates Jesus into the heart of all we do. We Encourage students through a welcoming, safe, and caring environment allowing children to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. We are Equipping children with top-quality education creating tomorrow’s leaders today as we prepare to Launch them into the world to be Jesus’ hands and feet.

We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs of each individual family. It is our hope that by visiting our site, you will learn more about our school as well as the programs that our preschool offers. Our programs run from September to June.

Our curriculum is developed with the curious toddler in mind, "High Reach." The High Reach Curriculum complements the Core Knowledge curriculum that the children are introduced to in our three-year-old program. We encourage the development of language and motor skills through exciting monthly themes. Simple games, songs, and finger-plays are just a few of the activities that enable each child to learn about the world first-hand. Each week, art, small/large motor, language, music, and rhyme activities help engage and involve your two-year-old in new learning experiences.

              Curriculum

At Our Savior Lutheran Preschool, we believe that children learn through play. In using the Core Knowledge Sequence our dedicated staff has the opportunity to teach through play.

We find the Beginners Bible a perfect way to introduce our children to the stories and characters of the Bible. God is integral in all that we do, your children will find that Jesus time touches every part of their day. Learn More

The Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence is a set of model guidelines describing fundamental competencies and specific knowledge that provide coherent foundations for later learning in kindergarten and beyond. The Preschool Sequence is meant for children between the ages of three and five. The Preschool Sequence addresses physical, social, linguistic, and cognitive aspects of development.

Zoo-phonics® is a method developed to make children strong readers and spellers using a “phono” (hearing), “oral” (speaking), “visual” (seeing), “kinesthetic” (moving), and tactile (touching)—whole-brain approach. The Animal Alphabet helps children remember the shapes and sounds of the letters. The Body Movement for each Animal Letter helps “cement” the phonemic information into memory.

Handwriting Without Tears® strives to make legible and fluent handwriting a natural and automatic skill for all children. Our unique curriculum uses entertaining, multisensory techniques and research-based methods to help students develop skills and form letters—from prewriting to printing to cursive.   The children will meet Mat Man, wooden pieces that help children learn how to draw a person, promote body awareness, socializing, and sharing.

              JESUS TIME

During Jesus Time the children have the opportunity to hear the Bible stories through books, videos, and songs as well as acting out the story for their friends. They learn how the stories in the Bible apply to their lives. Our classrooms become a community of sharing the forgiveness and kindness we know in Jesus.

              DRAMATIC PLAY

In the dramatic play area, the children learn to improvise and use things in a symbolic way to represent something else.  This is abstract thinking! The children also are able to try on different adult roles and to solve social problems through negotiation with friends.

              SENSORY ACTIVITY

Children are learning math and science skills as well as new vocabulary concepts of texture, color, weight, and size as they engage in sensory activities.

              BLOCK AREA

When the children use blocks at school they learn concepts of shape, size, length, all of which help with reading and math.  We also learn to use our imagination and cooperate with others!

              MANIPULATIVES

During manipulative play the children learn hand-eye coordination, to make and repeat patterns, symmetry, shapes, order, and design.  These are all math skills.

              SCIENCE

As the children explore science they use their fine motor skills and tactile senses. They learn about cause and effect, experimentation, questioning, and logic!

              WRITING/COLORING

During coloring and writing, the children learn to hold a pencil/crayon and to control the pressure. They use hand-eye coordination and are able to express themselves with words when describing their drawings.

              ART

The children are able to use their imagination, creativity and express their feelings. They learn the relationship of space and size, concepts of symmetry, balance, and design. These are all math and reading skills!
