Zephaniah is another in the long list of prophets who bring truth to Israel. While much of his prophecy is hard to stomach for God's people, he ends by rattling off many promises that God will do for His people. There is great comfort in what Jesus brought for the people of Israel, and we are benefactors of the same promises.
The Old Testament prophets made promises of the coming Messiah and what God would do for His people through Jesus. Malichi, the last prophet, proclaims that God will refine and purify His people. If something needs to be refined or purified it means that it has faults. Although God's people of old (and us) have impurities, our God sees His creation as worth restoring and refining!

We have reached the end of the church year. This year, we celebrate Christ the King Sunday. What is Christ the King Sunday all about? We are reminded that Jesus' Kingdom is not of this world and that we have been called to serve Him. It is so easy for us to fall into worldly traps of systems, governments, and politics, which take our eyes off Christ. In a divided world, Christ's Kingdom brings unity!
