Jesus calls his disciples from ordinary lives, into lives that are, well, ordinary. Yet, through their obedient following of Jesus’ call, they accomplish extraordinary things. Some days our lives seem all too ordinary, yet following Jesus’ call for you will make an extraordinary difference in your life and in the lives of others.
Our readings this Sunday provide two powerful examples of God calling people into ministry. When are the times when you have experienced a sense of “calling” into an aspect of the Kingdom of God? What kinds of experiences did you have as you responded to that calling? Where is the Lord calling Our Savior Lutheran Ministries these days?
God is in the business of “New Beginnings.” Our readings point us to the movement from darkness to light; from slavery to freedom; from death to life; and reveal the beginning of Christ’s public ministry at His baptism. God’s generating new beginnings hasn’t stopped. Where are your new beginnings popping up?
