Dear Our Savior Family,
We have a great God. I think that it is only fitting to say along with Martin Luther, “this is most certainly true.” As I look back over this (oftentimes whacky and crazy) wild ride that has been this past year, I see God’s fingerprints all over it. God has been at work in so many ways, doing awesome and amazing things. He is bringing new people into our midst through in-person and online worship. Just in the last few weeks, five young people confirmed their faith in Christ. Seven young people received communion for the first time. A four-year-old little girl was baptized. In addition, our school and preschool continue to touch the lives of countless young people and their families, and both continue to grow. God is at work in this place and there is so much for which to be thankful and praise Him.
As we approach June 15 (when our state is planning on opening up even further), I’d like to highlight some of our plans moving forward. As I share these things, let me reiterate that our commitment since this pandemic began has been to do ministry the best way that we can, the safest way that we can, and within the regulation that we are given. As such, there are some things that are unknown as we approach June 15. Rather than speculate on the unknowns, I will share with you what we do know and are committed to enacting as we approach June 15.
- We will continue to have two sections in our sanctuary designated for seating that provides the ability to remain physically distant. We know that some people are ready to be in closer proximity to one another, while others, for good reason, are not. We want worship to be safe and comfortable for everyone.
- We are excited to announce that our 10:30 am Sunday morning Bible Class will return on June 20. Norm Back will begin a study on the book of Job.
- As we move forward, we will be bringing back other familiar parts of the service including music during communion, and the use of robes.
- Our online ministry will continue, but also seek to move to the next level. Each Saturday morning, the sermon for that week will be available online. And, beginning with Sunday, June 20, the 9 am worship service will be recorded, edited, and posted on our website by Monday - allowing everyone to experience the full service from Sunday morning. We are working towards being able to eventually offer live-streaming of the service for online worship.
- After June 16, Wednesdays in the Word will take a summer hiatus but return in person this Fall with plans to have online capabilities as well.
Thank you once again for all of your love, support, patience, and understanding throughout this wild ride; it is truly appreciated. We couldn’t be where we are without you. But we must acknowledge our great God who has been so good, despite the challenges that we have faced. We are so thankful for all that He is doing, and for all of your help to make it a reality. I am very excited to see what God does in the coming months as we seek to follow Him into the future that He has prepared for us. Please know that we are here to help and walk this journey of life together with you, and we are committed to serving you and our community in the absolute best way that we can.
God Bless,
Pastor Kevin
