Board of Directors - Year End

by Chris Korsak on April 20, 2022

As we near the end of the 2021/22 Fiscal Year, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank the congregation for your support this past year

It has been a busy year for the Board with much of our focus committed to our Constitution, Policy Manuals, and Charters; aligning and updating language, and simplifying procedures to improve operational effectiveness.  We are awaiting final approval of our Constitution, which couldn't happen without your support and trust in the OSLM leadership team.  Our Policy Manual was also updated and approved to align with the Constitution.  A Compensation Committee was formed and allowed us to simplify and optimize our Compensation Policy.  Additionally, the updated Endowment Committee Charter was reviewed and approved. And the Property Committee worked to gain city approval to install a columbarium on our grounds. These policy modifications and intentional efforts will position us well into the future as we continue to do God's work, striving to connect more people with Christ, sharing all that is special and unique at OSLM.

Your Board commits time and energy in representing OSLM; balancing professional demands along with family priorities.   This commitment, passion and diversity of thought makes our structure effective in managing change and partnering with our Pastor, Executive Director and Principal to pursue the vision begun over 3 years ago, through the adoption of our Major Moves.  We have invested in infrastructure and talent and these investments have been rewarded with overall ministry growth and a stronger OSLM.

I want to express special thanks to Katrina Owens (Vice-Chair) and Mark Klins (Treasurer) who are coming to the end of their 3-year term.  Their wisdom, passion, and thoughtfulness have benefited the Board and the OSLM Ministry at large.  We are grateful to both of them for having shared their gifts with us; please join me in thanking them for their service to us and the Lord.

We are excited for the future and acknowledge the hard work of the staff and support from the congregation that makes us the family we are.  As a Board, we want to encourage each member to find their voice, and allow the spirit to work through them to pursue an avenue where they can share their gifts with the OSLM community.  Please prayerfully consider where you are being called to serve.  Opportunities might include: volunteering for worship assistance, joining a committee, supporting our vision by enlisting in a Ministry Action Team (Engage, Encourage, Equip, Launch), serving on the Board of Directors or the Board of Elders.  There is space for everyone!

Sincerest thanks and blessings to all!
